It made me laugh.
A lot.
No, I'm not a horrible person, well, I am inherently evil. But that's a different topic.
But I find it funny that I can tell you exactly what love is. And I have been able to since I was younger. Maybe early teens.
Love is not a feeling. It's an action. It's getting up when the person you love is sick and taking care of them. It's making their favorite food even though you hate it. It's not holding things against them when they say stupid stuff that might hurt you deeply. It's about giving second chances, and them always being on their first try. It's about working out your differences and settling on agreement.
It's not about you. You shouldn't expect anything in return. It's not about what can I get from them. It's not selfish.
And you know what else?
we have a perfect example of what love is. Shown to us since the beginning of time. To quote the Bible (LE GASP!!! THE HORRORS OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND RELIGION!) We can see where I get my starting point from.
The passage is an NIV translation, and is found in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8. The first sentence in 8.
"4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.8Love never fails."
doesn't that say what I said above? Only it's shorter and doesn't give pin point examples. But you should get the point. Also this shows a bit of what God does. I mean, there's so much about God that I think we'll really only be able to understand him fully is when we die and go to Heaven or Hell. However, you can see these qualities of love in God. God is love. and he is the perfect example of it.
I think that's my rant for the night. I could expand more on the spiritual bit of it. Which I will do. Just not today. Think about it. Look into it. Look to the couples you know that are stronger and see how they treat love. Society has made love about the feelings, and not the action, which has just led to lots of issues.
